Should I Ask My Ex-Girlfriend for Money – Relationship Questions – Advice Column – Ask Chauntel

Today let’s dive into relationship questions Jewels! We have an advice column question from Peter.

28-year-old Peter from New Jersey, US writes:

Hi Chauntel,

What do you personally think if a man were to ask his Ex Girlfriend for
money? Do you think it is wise?

My Follow-up question to Peter,

What is the relationship with the girlfriend?

His response: To be honest she was sweet & caring but unfortunately cheated.

Hey Peter,

When a man breaks-up with his girlfriend that means that all ties that he had to her should be broken unless there was some other agreement between the two individuals. Considering the reason for the break-up, a clean break was likely. The exception to this rule is if there is a child involved. Otherwise, it will be difficult from him to move on.

Your question was written in the third person, but let’s just assume that man is you. Now, I am going to talk in the first person.

It is unwise for you to ask your ex girlfriend for money especially when she has cheated on you. It will only complicate things further within the relationship. It might well be the reason she cheated in the first place. Women like to trust their men as the provider. Once you start using her as a financial crutch you have lost that respect.

So pick up a second job, get a side hustle, go to your family and friends in a pinch, not to her. In a woman’s mind, he should be taking care of things. He should at least be able to stand on his own two feet. You are not standing on your own two feet if you are needing money from her.

If you start this process it is likely to become a pattern, and it is not one that I want to see you begin for yourself. The time is now to make a change in your life where you can provide for a woman, not depend on a woman to provide for you.

Mommy Monday – Confessions of a Mommy Blogger – 20 Something Year Olds – Early Life Crisis

Hello My Beautiful Jewels and Gems,

I have been making some very scary decisions lately. The kind of decisions that are life changing. These are the decisions that lead you to self discovery in your twenties. All of us “20 somethings” are faced with important decision after decision. And one does effect the other. So the pressure is on, and it seems non-stop.

What are these decisions I speak of:

Where will I go to college?
When will I go to college?
Where will I work after college?
Should I travel?
Should I study abroad?
Who will I marry?
How will I find the right one?
Do I want to have kids?
How many kids do I want to have?
When should I start having kids?
What do I want to be when I grow up?
How will I become that professional?
Have I made my parents proud?
When should I have the next kid?
When can I buy a house?
Where will I live?
What job should I apply for?
What job should I take?
Who should I be friends with?
Who am I?
What makes me happy?
Do I like my church?
Where can I find a church?
Do I like myself?
When should I work out? And how much?

As I began writing tonight I realized that apparently, I have a lot to say.

I think about these things all the time, and you would have thought that I would have thought to blog about it right?

Well, I didn’t think of this. Which is very ironic because, I have had this blog for about 8 years. Very rarely have I blogged about myself, occasionally maybe. I purposely left myself out. So maybe it is time for a big scary change. Well scary for me anyway.

Now, to be honest, the fear comes from the unknown, the vulnerability of speaking from my heart. However, you know that is were all the good stuff is anyway right? At least that is what I would like to think.

There is no way that all I have to say can go into one entry. So here is what we are doing. We are making this into a new series on the blog. This series will be entitled as you see above: Confessions of a Mommy Blogger. I will be posting every Monday. Sometimes, it will be this series and others I will just blog about my daily life.

Haha, now I know that I am being very evasive, but work with me here. I am dealing with a lot of abstract thoughts. And yes, I have been told countless times, that I am so “deep”. Let’s begin with what inspired this whole idea anyway.

So, I work as a Substitute Teacher, and I subbed at my old high school this week. I ran right into one of my old coaches. Who is apparently not just a tennis coach, but a life coach too. 🙂 To my surprise, when she saw me she very boldly and quickly asked me what I was still doing here subbing.

That lead to a conversation about finding myself. She told me since I want to blog, then it was time that I began blogging about it. She told me that I am not the only one going through this, and I should share it!

Needless to say, I was enlightened and encouraged so Coach Gagnon thank you! We are off to a great start I can feel it!

Keeping Your Marriage Happy – Marriage Mondays

I have decided to expand my horizons a bit! Here is a new series on my blog! It may spill over into my YouTube channel who knows! It is entitled Marriage Mondays! I did write one a while back, to try it out! You guys seemed to like it so lets get it going! Even if you are not married some of these posts may still help with those of you in relationships!

So here it goes!

The little things matter! In love and marriage, it is important to always remember that your spouse may not always outwardly express what they may be feeling, but it is your job to stay in tune with not only their needs but also their wants!

Not only does this make them feel special, but it also makes them feel needed and wanted. Sometimes we find ourselves so wrapped up in our own worlds that we forget to stop and assess what’s going on around us.

It is during these times, that the ones closest to us, might find themselves needing us the most. So, we have to, as they say “take time to smell the roses”. Slow down and connect with your spouse, so that you can attend to what they need.

Did you know that 93% of communication happens nonverbally. There was a study done by Dr. Albert Mehrabian, author of Silent Messages. He found that only 7% of communication happens through words and 38% is expressed through vocal elements. More the 55% is communicated through nonverbal elements such as facial expressions, gestures, posture, and related body language.

Next to God, your spouse has to be the second top priority in your life, more than work or other activities. If they are not happy, it will begin to effect each of you individually; then it will begin to effect your marriage.

So pay close attention to both their verbal and nonverbal cues. If you only listen to the words that you hear and ignore what you see, you are truly missing out on 93% of the bigger picture. Give it a try this week, be attentive to your spouses wants as well as their needs and see just how much you make them smile! Attention to nonverbal cues is essential to keeping a happy marriage!
